It’s a vacation. Vacations should be fun. At the Map House, you’ll have endless opportunities to enjoy yourself. We’ve paid attention to every detail. From comfort to entertainment to maintaining the environment, we hope you’ll feel good about every aspect of your stay.

Bedrooms are large and comfortable, with new memory foam mattresses.

Spacious bedrooms.

Sleeping

All our beds are Tempurpedic-style memory foam, for the greatest combination of firmness and soft comfort. Our 3 bedrooms sleep up to 10 in air-conditioned comfort. We provide allergen-free pillows, lightweight fleece blankets, and light coverlets, as well as mattress and pillow protectors. As with most Outer Cape rental homes, we don’t provide linens or towels, but can refer you to a rental company if you are unable to bring your own. The downstairs bedroom is perfect for an older couple who wants to minimize stairs, though there is no stair-free entrance to the home.

Cozy living room.

Comfort is our #1 priority.

Living

We offer a fully-equipped chef’s kitchen with plenty of dishes and wide variety of cooking pots, pans, and utensils, a five-burner propane gas stove and a there’s a Weber propane grill just outside the sliding glass door from the dining room. The home and Game Barn are air conditioned. Eat indoors or outdoors on the teak patio tables. Enjoy drinks and apps at the fire pit. You’ll find a washer/dryer with eco-friendly detergent pods, pantry staples, and the bathrooms contain eco-friendly soaps and unlimited TP. For guests with small children, though we are not baby-proofed we do have a pack ‘n’ play and basic high chair.

The game room features pool, ping-pong, a large sofa, and a massive high definition television.

The Game Barn.

Social Fun

In addition to the Game Barn’s ping-pong, pool, and massive HDTV with plentiful streaming services, we stock many board games and puzzles (so far no pieces missing!) for all ages. In the main house you’ll find another HDTV and streaming content. Our deck includes a hot tub and heavenly outdoor shower. The yard is grassy and there is a spacious hammock and rope swing. The patio includes seating for eight and a fire pit, with a healthy supply of kiln-dried hardwood. Less social, but equally fun, we maintain a large library of beach reads, as well as some more literary fare.

You’re not the only one soaking up the sun.

Smart Home/Green Features

We’ve embedded technology into the home to give you control and flexibility. Alexa can answer many questions about local conditions and schedules, provides music on demand, and serves as an intercom between the house and the Game Barn, as well as controlling lights and air conditioning through voice commands. The home is almost entirely powered by solar panels and we offer EV charging for a small fee. We are committed to keeping the Map House’s carbon footprint as close to zero as possible to avoid contributing to the climate damage that has already taken a toll on Cape Cod.

Newcomb Hollow Beach

Miles of beautiful beaches.

Ready for the Beach

In the basement, you’ll find a storehouse of beach items. We stock swimming noodles, a collection of boogie boards, a skim board or two, a healthy supply of beach chairs, small coolers, and an ever-changing assortment of beach toys and floats (ever-changing because every year some don’t survive and every year guests leave some behind for the house). We’ll leave you instructions for getting a permit for a beach bonfire and parking stickers for the lots at all the Town-operated water-adjacent lots.

The Map House is close to everything in Wellfleet.

Wellfleet Fun Off-Premises

Wellfleet has plenty of great ponds as well as Bay and Ocean beaches all within a few minutes of the house. Restaurants have a casual vibe but wide ranges from fast food to fancy. The Wellfleet Drive-In is 7 minutes down the road, along with mini-golf (and real golf), tennis, charter fishing, pickleball, a skate park, basketball, yoga, theater, and much more.
